Your first visit at St. Kilda Road Chiropractic
Helping to restore proper spinal biomechanics and improved nervous system function begins with a case history. This gives the chiropractor a background about your health, such as surgeries, accidents, the onset of your condition, and other details affecting your current health.
After reviewing your history and discussing your specific problem, thorough orthopedic, neurological, and chiropractic examination is performed. X-rays may be taken to uncover structural and functioning problems associated with the spinal column. These examinations help identify areas of spinal malfunction and resulting nervous system deficit.
The findings of these examinations are explained and a plan of chiropractic adjustments may be recommended. Progress is monitored with periodical examinations and follow-up reports.
Where are We?
St Kilda Road Chiropractic is located at 517 St Kilda rd, Melbourne, which is at the corner of Commercial rd. Although officially we are in the suburb of Melbourne, we are very close to Prahran, South Yarra and St Kilda, and the CBD is about 10 minutes away by tram.
We are in the grey and black building which has a Medical Centre and Pharmacy on the Ground floor. (See photo) We are located opposite the lifts on the ground floor. Other landmarks to look for are The Alfred Hospital which is just up Commercial rd. And for those of you who remember The Chevron hotel and nightclub, that is just across Commercial rd on the opposite corner.
There is limited short term parking on site, which you enter from Commercial rd. The cost is $9 per hour. Street meter parking is available on both Commercial rd and St Kilda rd, though remember to properly read the parking signs.

Our Practice History
Our clinic came to life more than 15 years ago. Originally called ‘Advance Migraine and Headache Centre’, with a second clinic located in Essendon. As the name suggests, we focused on treating Headaches and Migraines, though we did provide general chiropractic care as well.
Our interest in Headaches and Migraines has continued with involvement in the site www.headache.com.au which is a popular source of headache and migraine information, and provides content for the state governments health site www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au
Dr Ric Carlei and Dr Jerome Dixon, both Chiropractors, have previously practiced in these clinics, with Dr Grant Shevlin practicing here since 1997.
Our name changed to St Kilda Road Chiropractic in July 2001, to reflect a change to providing General Chiropractic and Wellness care.
In October 2012 we moved downstairs to our current location on the ground floor, opposite the chemist.
